BISHOP CARTER HAS GEORGIA ON HIS MIND

MOBILE, ALABAMA JULY 2, 2010: During Friday's evening session of the 37th General Conference of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church at the Arthur R. Outlaw Convention in Mobile, Alabama, the Episcopal Standing Committee recommended an assignment of Bishop Kenneth W. Carter to the Sixth Episcopal District of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. The report was sustained and immediately the leadership torch passed. Georgia now has a new Presiding Prelate.

Bishop Thomas L. Hoyt, Jr. Installed as the Senior Bishop of the Christian Methodist Episcopal (C.M.E.) Church at the 37th General Conference

Senior Bishop Thomas L. Hoyt, Jr.

Bishop Thomas Lanier Hoyt, Jr., the 48th Bishop of the Christian Methodist Episcopal (C.M.E.) Church, was installed as the Senior Bishop of the denomination on June 30, 2010 at the thirty-sixth quadrennial Session and the thirty-seventh General Conference in Mobile, Alabama.

Bishop Hoyt, elected to the Episcopacy at the 1994 General Conference, is currently the Presiding Prelate of the Seventh Episcopal District.

The Christian Methodist Episcopal (C.M.E.) Church, convening for its thirty-six quadrennial session and thirty-seventh General Conference in Mobile, Alabama during June 26-July 4, 2010, elected five new bishops including a female and an indigenous bishop for Africa.

In the thirty-six quadrennial session and thirty-seventh General Conference of the Christian Methodist Episcopal (C.M.E.) Church convening in Mobile, Alabama during June 26-July 4, 2010, five new bishops were elected.  The Rev. Dr. Teresa Snorton was elected the first female bishop of the denomination.

2010 C.M.E. General Conference
The 36th Quadrennial Session and the 37th General Conference of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church was held in Mobile, Alabama at the Arthur R. Outlaw Convention Center.  From June 26 - July 4, 2010, Senior Bishop William H. Graves, Sr. and Host Bishop Lawrence L. Reddick, III facilitated worship and business meetings for the 3,500+ attendees.

We are saddened by the passing of Mrs. Catherine Jewell Gill, a Christian servant, faithful missionary and loyal CME.  Mrs. Gill was the Secretary of the Spiritual Life and Message Department of the Women's Missionary Council of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.  She was a faithful member and leader at Miles Chapel CME Church in Little Rock, Arkansas.
