Bishop Snorton Leading Fifth Episcopal District Disaster Relief Efforts

Thanks to everyone across the CME Connection who has expressed concern and lifted prayers for the people of Alabama. The effects of the tornado damage done on April 27 to several communities in the Southeast, particularly in the state of Alabama, are massive. The death count is now around 300 and there are still a number of persons missing. Search and recovery efforts are still underway.  A number of CME families have been impacted directly or indirectly by these tragic deaths. Schools remain closed and power is gradually being restored.  We solicit your continued prayers.

The College of Bishops is asking CME individuals and congregations to collect and send an immediate offering for disaster relief in Alabama and other affected areas during the month of May. Checks should be made payable to “CME Department of Finance”, noting it is for Disaster Relief.  These donations and future contributions should be mailed to the Presiding Bishop of your Episcopal District.  The following disaster relief efforts have been organized in the Fifth and welcome your support:

It is with great joy and excitement that I invite all of you to the celebration of a gift that Sand Hill has received after 140 years of dedicated service to community. The Pastor and Members will give the gift back to the Father who gave it on this coming Sunday morning during the 11:00 AM hour. Service will be held on the paved road to show the Lord how much we appreaciate what He had done for us. This service will be videoed, news spots shared, radio, and local papers will carry this story. Just another bit of history for the CME Church. God has smiled on Sand Hill to have a paved road to travel on for this 140 year old Church Anniversary, 2:30 PM, October 24, 2010. Yes, a paved road, no more dirt road to travel on to the church. Come see what the Lord has done in a short while. Someone ought to say AMEN.

PLEASE SHARE WITH EVERYONE IN THE SIXTH DISTRICT

With Jesus Joy, we welcome you to the online presence for the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church Sixth Episcopal District.  We are blessed to spread the message of salvation using this virtual medium to engage the district and beyond for ministry.  We have two websites available to further electronic communications in the Sixth Episcopal District.

The Episcopal District Website (http://www.cmesixth.org) will provide high-level District information from the Bishop's perspective as well as be a resource for links throughout the connectional church.  I encourage you to visit it regularly as the official voice of the Sixth Episcopal District.  There is a "Contact Us" form available on the website, alternatively you may send a message to webmaster@cmesixth.org .

The District Communication Website (http://www.cnetweb.org/cme_network.htm) continues as a gathering for local, regional, and district events whereby we will feature the local work in the District.    CNETWEB Communications Network is maintaining this site for us and you may contact them at flashlyt@bellsouth.com with updates.

Likewise, going forward please reach me via email at my new email address:  bishopkwcarter@cmesixth.org.

I look forward to the Sixth Episcopal District being a connectional model as we seek to be "An 'Essential Church':  Posied for 21st Century Ministry."
