WOMEN'S TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM - MIT
  The Women's Technology Program at MIT is a 4-week summer residence program to introduce high school girls to electrical engineering and computer science. If you know a girl who is currently a high school junior who demonstrates math and science ability and an interest in finding out about EECS, please encourage her to visit our website for more information and for an application form (applications are due Feb 3, 2005) http://www.mit.edu Our classes are taught in a supportive environment by a staff of women MIT PhD candidates and undergraduates. The full-time academic program includes hands-on experiments and team-based projects in computer science, electrical engineering, and mathematics. No prior experience in computer programming, physics, or electrical engineering is expected, but applicants typically have strong academic records, especially in math and science.
 
 
TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY
Tuskegee University's College of Engineering, Architecture and Physical Sciences is offering high school rising and graduating seniors summer programs with activities designed to motivate and prepare students for study and careers in engineering. Students will also have access to campus resources including computers, libraries, athletic facilities and health services. Summer programs at Tuskegee include:

SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY
Southern University and Agricultural & Mechanical College are offering students entering grades nine through twelve opportunity to participate in the Engineering Summer Institute.  ESI is an intensive four-week program running Monday, June 13 through Friday, July 8, 2005. Washington University Medical Scholarship

Opportunities at Mayo Clinic--Rochester for Minority Students

There are programs at Mayo for minority students:

1.  Summer Undergraduate Research Program--Conduct research project for 10 weeks, develop technical skills, receive fellowship award of $4000.  Apply online at:  www.mayo.edu/mgs/surf.html.  Deadline for applications is Feb. 1

2.  Mayo Clinic Initiative for Minority Student Development--recent college graduates seeking one or two years research before applying to Ph.D, MD or MD-PhD programs, medical students doing summer research.  The programs that are a year long pay a salary of $21,000.  The summer program for Medical Students has a stipend of $1255/month plus $75/week for housing and up to $600 for travel.  This is an excellent opportunity to make contacts in the medical field.  

Applicants are limited to those who are considered by the AMA to be historically underrepresented in medicine and research (African American, Native American , Hispanic American) and be a US citizen or have permanent resident status.  This also has a deadline of Feb. 1.

 Navy ROTC Scholarships & FAA Internship Program Summer 2004 

The Florida A&M University (FAMU) is soliciting your help in finding qualified minority candidates interested in attending FAMU or one if not the other Historically Black Colleges or Universities (Morehouse, Tuskegee   University , Norfolk State , Prairie View A. & M. University , Savannah State and Southern University) on a Navy ROTC Scholarship. 

The scholarship is called the Historically Black College Scholarship. 

The criteria for the scholarship is as follows:

1. Must be an African American or Hispanic

2. High School Senior

3. High School GPA 3.0 or better

4. SAT Score 1050 (530 verbal/520 math) or ACT score 22 (22 English/ 22 Math) 

Once information is received their applications will be screened and they will be informed if they will be submitted to Chief of Naval Education and training (CNET) for the scholarship. Prior to awarding the scholarship, a qualified applicant must pass a medical exam, paid for by the Navy. The scholarship pays for tuition, fees, books, uniforms, and a monthly stipend of $200.00. In addition if a student attends FAMU on a NROTC Scholarship, the University offers a limited number of ROOM & BOARD scholarships! The end result is that the student attends college on a FULL RIDE!
