Texas College Hosts Religious Emphasis Week

Texas College will host its annual Religious Emphasis Week January 27-31.

"Texas College was founded in 1894 by a group of Christian Methodist Episcopal ministers and laity." said Rev. Clementene Gully, campus minister.  "Since our doors opened on the first day, we were founded on religious principles.  More than a century later, it is still a part of our mission to educate the whole student.  Religious Emphasis Week affords us time to expose our students to different schools of religious thoughts."

"Senior Bishop Marshall Gilmore will be the key note speaker on Wednesday, January 29 at 11:00 a.m.," President Billy C. Hawkins announced.  "He is the chairman of our Board of Trustees, however he is also known and respected throughout the country for his leadership in the CME church and as a dynamic speaker".

Other ministers scheduled to speak at Texas College during the week include:  Rev. Marcus Jackson, Peoples Missionary Baptist Church, Tyler, TX; Dr. J. L. Lawson, Miracle Temple House of Prayer Interdenominational Church and Minister Jeffries, Nation of Islam, Dallas, TX.
